Expert Review

WindPro is the fail-safe stove.

by KarlosJ83, Gear Expert from UT, United States Written on September 10, 2011
This stove is a great minimalist stove because of it's light weight and folding ability. It is fail-safe which is critical in extreme situations when other stoves require cleaning and repair. It's also safer than many stoves for use inside a tent because of the compressed gas canisters. Good control and plenty of heat. Great product.
Most Helpful Positive Review nice stove but a little bit heavy
I bought this stove for my next 4000m hiking trip。it's reliable and easy to use,on the other hand, this stove is a little heavy。

Reliable, Boil qulick, Good support

by Gary, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on June 19, 2019
This stove is reasonably light weight. It seems that the package weight is very big. But I never take the plastic bag, the canister support and the bottom reflector on the trial, will save much weight.
I have been using this stoves for more than one year / more than 20 trekking days. Even in the high altitude or cold weather, this Wind Pro II works really good. Boil water quickly.

The support is very stable and the flame is very big , I put the SnowLine pressure cookware with no problem.
Pros:
  • Reliable, Boil qulick, Good support
Cons:
  • package not small
Best Used for:
  • hiking, backpacking

MSR WP2 nice stove

by Benji, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on June 30, 2018
Works like a champ stable with a heavy 10" pot made dinner for four, It works better in colder temps with the inverted canister and foil wind blocker works better then I thought it would. I use this as my base camp stove while my Pocket rocket stays in my pack Light weight together with my Pocket Rocket my cook set is complete.

a good all around choice for most hikers

by Yaduck9, Written on May 5, 2014
I own several stoves; Zelph alcohol stove, primus omni fuel, vargo ti cannister stove. the MSR Windpro II hits a sweetspot that makes it good for the majority of situations. It is a cannister stove that can run in "liquid" mode. Great for cold weather. It is a remote canister stove, which one can utilize a wind shield. Heats faster then alcohol and is more weight efficent on longer hikes. Simpler

A Powerful Little Stove

by Clayton M, from MT, United States Written on March 22, 2014
This is a great winter stove (so long as you know the rules for canisters below 32F) that is reliable and robust. It's also light enough that I don't have any complaints for carrying it in summer if necessary either. With the added safety and stability of a remote canister stove, the extra ounces are worth it. MSR's specs are for the stove only, but they're dead on.

The only downside is that i

A very good all around performer.

by Bob D, Written on December 8, 2013
I own several stoves, from 2 simple alcohol stoves, a tiny ti canister stove, to a primus omnifuel.

The MSR windpro II hits a nice sweetspot. Canisters, in general, over a three day hike are lighter than alcohol. the Wind pro weighs approx., 3 oz more then the lightest canister stove, but it is a remote canister stove that can run in "liquid" mode which makes it outperform in cold weather. Canist

Light, Strong and Compact!

by Robbo, Written on February 10, 2010
Had to do some emergency radiator repairs in the bush, so used the stove to heat up an old 1/2 steel bolt to use as a soldering iron. It worked perfectly.
Then I boiled a billy. this stove does everything!
