Lightweight, great for multi-days hikes

Platypus made very lightweight and water pouch and it is prefect for multi-day hikes. I used it for Patagonia and in general it works great. except I was planning to use it with Sawyer Mini water filter, however, Sawyer filter and Platypus water pouch are will NOT securely fit. Lightweight for the trail, retains its shape so its easy to fill from a filter. Make sure to let them dry thoroughly between trips because they are a challenge to clean.

Great for Backpacking!

I use this bottle when I go on long hikes. I like to have my dogs carry their own food and water. This soft water bottle fits easily in their puppy backpacks. It doesn't take up much space and easily collapses and takes up little space on the way back to the trailhead.

Life savers

I use these for fly-in raft trips. They are wonderful for putting a variety of different beverages in without leaving any garbage behind or having to pack out bulky containers. My favorite use is for them is putting baileys in one to drink in my coffee.

Q Is there a water filter (MSR Sweetwater, Katadyn, etc) with a bottle adapter that mates with the Platypus soft bottles?

Expert Answer

I am not aware of a specific bottle adapter that will match the size and threads of the soft bottles, though "out-put" hoses should slip into the opening just fine.

Q can you wash these with a dishwasher???

They can withstand the heat of the dishwasher, but the hole is so small that it really wouldn't clean it very effectively. Just rinsing with hot water and a tiny amount of soap is usually fine. A little bit of bleach with lots of water is good for heavy duty disinfecting.
