Most Helpful Positive Review Awesome chair
Extremely well made and very comfortable although a little pricey... Just the right chair for a cycle tour.
Most Helpful Negative Review Got replacement with the same defect - unprofessional frame assembly, should be sent back and redone
Loose cords again, which is dangerous from my point of view, and I know how to fix it, but one more problem with design - holes for poles too big and a backlash as a result, especially on the cross bar below the seat. This frame is wobbly, more than any similar design chairs on the market. Avoid lat...

Best chair by far

by BARBARA M., Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on October 20, 2018
I purchased these two chairs on sale to give for Christmas gifts to two avid campers. I have had my Helionox chair for 5 or 6 years and use it a lot when I am kayaking. It is still in excellent shape. These Elite chairs seem to be of the same durable quality and pack up in a small bag. They are a bit bigger than the chair I bought some years ago but still very portable. And they seem to have more of an incline backwards but at $57.00 each they are well worth it. I bring my two chairs when ever and where ever I travel. They are light, pack in a backpack and in my kayak and can be pulled out when I want to sit by the sea, sit by the fire or just sit. I see they make a platform for them but I am not sure it is worth the extra weight.
Pros:
  • light exceptional quality packable
Cons:
  • back incline is a bit more than I like
Best Used for:
  • travel, camping, kayaking

Great lightweight chair

by mommo, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on October 19, 2018
I bought 2 chairs because of all the great reviews that I have read all over the internet. I have also tried sitting on in a sporting store and loved it, but could not see myself paying almost $100 for one. It was on sale for 40% off at campsaver--SOLD! Wished I would have purchased 2 more to gift to my sister since she hikes and camps way more than me...a week later it was back to full price. The chair color is a nice orange/yellow and gray. It sets up super easy, the connected DAC cords are great (no pieces to lose), comes with a 75% mesh carrying case with zipper and handle on either end (one would have been enough)--I would have preferred some sort of cinch bag--the bag could have been designed better to reduce weight especially for those hardcore backpackers. The stitchings looks to hold everything together smoothly and looks like it would last for quite some time. My girls who are 7 and 4 loves sitting in them to read or play on their iPad. It is currently set up in my 7 year old's bedroom so she can play "interview". I can see how the legs will dig into soft ground like everyone say and there are accessories on the net to help with that. Overall I LOVE the chairs!!!
Pros:
  • Light weight and compact
Cons:
  • Legs dig into soft ground but there are accessories to fix that
Best Used for:
  • Anywhere you want to sit

Very Excellent, Bargain Priced Chair for Backpacking

by Thomas C., Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on July 27, 2018
Ultralight folks may shun this due to its 2# weight compared to nothing at all save a Z-Lite pad or a foot length of 16" Reflectix insulation as a "chair" in camp. I'm 70 years old, over 200#, and have used a Crazy Creek Hex 2 roll-up foam/carbon rod ground chair for a number of years... I want a chair for back support. I've eye'd the Helinox chairs - the Zero is lighter, but still "on the ground" enough to "roll out onto your hands" to get up unless you're very young; the Chair One is pretty much identical to this Elite, but for the One the mesh is at the back rather than the sides, otherwise the same specs/build; the others are just not for backpacking, too heavy and big.
Setup is a breeze, you can almost shake the rods into place. Putting on the fabric isn't difficult at all. Build design and quality of construction is top notch. Sitting down isn't a controlled fall, the chair is comfortable and stable, and no more "rolling out onto my hands to get up". It collapses as easily, and it does fit into the carry pouch without much fiddling.
The Elite is very likely a close-out sale with the Chair One as the new, preferred fabric design; price reflects that situation. Only Orange color, but you can see the chair past dusk. Yes, the legs will sink if the ground is soft - some use tennis balls to prevent that, but they do add bulk to your pack.
A note: I'd previously used Velcro straps to attach my Crazy Creek Hex 2 to the bottom of my pack; the Velcro LOVES the netti...

Pros:
  • Adequately light and compact for backpacking
  • Adequately comfortable and stable to get in, sit in, and get up from.
  • Adequately strong, good build, easy setup/takedown.
  • Great price for close-out model
Cons:
  • Legs can sink in soft ground, need a work-around like tennis ball or ground cloth (small, say, 2ft x 2ft of poly tarp).
Best Used for:
  • Car camping, Backpacking, any outdoor venue (4th, concerts, etc.)

Helinox lives up to the hype

by kristalongtin, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on July 24, 2018
I’ve had other lightweight foldable camping chairs, and they just don’t last. The feet are flimsy, and the supports bend after a couple of uses. But my Helinox chair has been awesome. The feet are sturdy, and it’s still as lightweight as some of the cheaper chairs. Highly recommend!

Great chair, defect is easy to fix.

by RandomCatting, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on June 29, 2018
I purchased one of these for a friend for Christmas and liked it so much I had to buy myself one. His was perfect but like many other complaints mine had loose elastic chord, after 10 seconds of assessing I tugged the chord through the back side of the black plastic Y junction and tied a loop knot to eliminate the slack. Bam, it's perfect. I highly recommend this for back packing, it's super comfy and sturdy.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • COMFORT
  • Size
  • Stability
Cons:
  • Slight design flaw, easily fixed with a knot
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking
  • Camping
  • Lounging

Loose shock cords, especially for legs, not steady construction, bad assembly work.

by Solo hiker, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on April 1, 2018
Shock cords for legs 1-2 inches longer than needed, so legs are loose and shaky. Other cords are not tight as well, though shock cords on back high poles can be easily fixed, legs are much harder because of very tight leg rubber tips. So I am trying to exchange this item, hopefully to get tight one. I need orange color, that's why I got this chair.
This is the first time when I see new equipment with such a problem. Even generic chairs (with exact size and design as Helinox) for 17-19 bucks are much more stable and tight.
Pros:
  • Helinox label
Cons:
  • Bad assembly work, loose cords

Hard to beat the original

by Joe, from NC, United States Written on March 20, 2018
I was in market for a backpacking chair after using some friends on our trips. They had clone type chair of the Helinox which were functional and portable. When I saw a deal on the original I pounced and couldn't be happier. The build feels more substantial and while adding a little bit of flex that adds comfort.
Pros:
  • Light, compact, strong
Cons:
  • Not the cheapest
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking

A bit shorter, but very comfy!

by Scout Mom, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on March 15, 2018
I ordered this chair to go on Scouting events with my son. This chair is compact, light and very comfy. It does sit a bit lower than the normal camping chairs, but it is still comfy. The seat is wide enough that you don't feel like you're sitting in a lightweight portable chair. (except for the height part)

Helinox Chair Elite

by jack31484, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on January 4, 2018
Couldnt be happier with my purchase. The chair was easy to assemble and super light. Held my weight (203lb) pretty easily and felt sturdy while doing it. Havent had a chance to use it in the field yet but plan to take it on a hiking trip to patagonia.
