Most Helpful Positive Review An engineering marvel, but very narrow
This thing is a work of art. Ultralight and well built. It's as comfy as any cot, except it's very narrow. I'm 6'2" with pretty broad shoulders and long arms and I have to lie pretty constricted on this. And it's not like a narrow pad where you might just spill off a bit, because the thin metal bars...

Most Helpful Negative Review Hard to assemble
The cot itself is sturdy and comfortable for the most part. Having the required strength To assemble the feet is another story. Even following the direct ions it takes a great amount strength. Best there is

by Pete, from OH, United States Written on February 23, 2025
I’ve been backing since I was a kid in scouts and have always slept on the ground. Despite the advances in blow up pads, I never get a good nights sleep. The ground has no “give” and it’s never going to be like a mattress. That all changes with this cot. Yes at 2.8# it’s a luxury item and it is long in the stuff sack. It’s worth it in my opinion. I pair it with a sea to summit 1.5” lightweight blowup pad and it’s the ultimate sleep system. I use two pieces of paracord to loop around the cot and the pad to keep everything in place. I’m 6’1” and am completely comfortable on this cot. Some complain about the set up and if that’s you, you aren’t doing it right. The method that is easiest is to set it on edge and use your entire upper body to press and flex the bow into place. It’s very easily done. This really excels at the comfortable nights sleep it provides. It’s a game changer and I will never hike without it. I haven’t yet evaluated how this does in cold weather. Since you aren’t laying on the ground and there is air between you and ground contact it stands to reason that you would be warmer than laying on the ground even with an insulated pad. The pad I use has an R value of 5, but I haven’t pushed its limits in cold weather as I typically am a 3+ season hiker (I find no joy in backpacking in the freezing cold)
Pros:
  • QUALITY
  • Comfort & Support
Cons:

Comfort off the ground

by Michael Frietman, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on December 23, 2023
I own a couple of Helinox items and love them. They are lightweight and pack small for camping trips. This cot will make a difference when I go backpacking. Assembly is not complicated. Yes, you need a little force but nothing extensive. Support is great and feels comfortable enough. I added all 4 support brackets for stability. With just 3 I felt the cot wobbles more. Overall a great purchase.
Pros:
  • Lightweight easy to set up
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • camping & backpacking

WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING WITHOUT THIS!

by Paul F, from AZ, United States Written on August 9, 2019
First of all - CampSaver has the best price around that I've found on the Helinox Lite Cot, and that's what initially attracted me to purchasing from them. I already knew I wanted to buy this cot, but went ahead and pulled the trigger with this online purchase through them, although I was hesitant because the description mentions something about it being an outlet/previous season stock. The package arrived in 2 days, per their promise. And from what I can tell, it's the same Lite Cot that I would have received had I ordered it from REI or some other large name, non-outlet store. The tag on the bag stated 2017, but I don't know if that's the model year or simply Helinox trademark year, etc. All I know is that this cot is brand spanking new and it actually ended up being the one with the 'grid' pattern on the fabric for the stuff sack and cot itself; I feel like this is the newer pattern, because all of the original images I've seen of the Lite Cot show the 'stripes' pattern on the fabric. I quickly unbagged everything and setup the cot without even looking at the directions - it's that simple. Two poles down the side, and the 4 supporting legs on the bottom. Others will say that it's sort of hard to get the support legs into place, but you just have to use your body leverage to get them to snap in - it's very straight-forward, and don't be afraid to let those DAC poles bend a little in order to get the plastic cups to snap into place. I had the thing setup in no time ...

Extremly Comfortable

by midu, Verified Owner from SAITAMA, Japan Written on June 15, 2018
This cot is awesome! I am combat arms in the Army and am in the "field" a lot. I used this cot for a recent 3 night FTX. This beats the heavy thermarest pad that the Army issues us tenfold and this beats sleeping on the ground 100x. I sleep mainly on my back usually roll on my sides and stomach from time to time, and yet this was still comfortable. The cot is really light and fits in the one man tent that we are issued. leaving plenty of room for gear at my feet and along side of me on my tent floor and leaves plenty of headroom.

Helinox Cot Lite

by FOD, from CA, United States Written on April 16, 2018
I wanted a lite weight cot for my Tipi tent for backpacking with my dog. This was the lightest one I could find and at a great price through campsaver. I weight about 200lbs and about 5' 9" so was worried about this cot that creaked when I tested it at home. It held up on my first trip for a couple nights great and I stopped worrying about it whether a single knee, arm, or sitting down on it like a chair. I brought an air mattress with me which probably wasn't needed, but just in case. This did not work so well since I was on a slight slant which made me slide between the two. The cot is also pretty short when it comes to height and width, but that is to be expected from a cot that weighs less then 3lbs. Overall I am happy with my purchase, because the cot does what I wanted it to. Despite other reviews I read it isn't very hard to put together, but does require some strength to get the legs attached.
Pros:
  • durable
  • Lite weight
Cons:
  • slick while using an air pad
  • Arm strength needed

It is very light and easy to use

by mikio m., Verified Owner from OSAKA, Japan Written on April 1, 2018
It is very light and easy to use.
I need a little strength to assemble
I think that I will be able to do it as soon as I get used to it.

It is also ideal for back packing and touring.

In summer camp
It seems to be usable even without a tent.

I am from April until November
I will go camp.

Because the camping equipment only increases
A compact cot is very helpful for storage.

Also when you do not go to camp you can use at home
very convenient.

We also recommend sleeping well

A nap is also possible.

light weight and sturdy

by sarah, from AK, United States Written on December 20, 2017
I set it up without reading the directions easily. Putting the legs on and off took some physical strength but that makes me think it will last a long time. I am looking forward to using it. A friend about my size has used it on camping and hunting trips and been very happy so I bought one too for traveling to remote villages without adding much weight to my kits.

Helinox Cot

by Craig V., Written on July 30, 2017
I recently purchased a helinox cot. I just got back from the 2017 RABGRAI and used the cot for seven nights of camping. I found the cot easy to assemble and disassemble. I'm 6'3" and weigh about 215lbs; I found the cot to be very comfortable. My purpose for buying the cot was for future motorcycle trips. While I do not backpack anymore, I think the cot size and weight would acceptable for backpacking.

No better than a matt

by Dustin W., Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on July 15, 2017
I bought this and took it out for a 2-night trip to Stehekin WA. The sleeping was very uncomfortable and I would have slept better on a small air mattress or a matt. The materials are good quality and the design is nice. The width is very narrow however. I'm returning mine.
