Been using trianga for 25 years

by KarlosJ83, Gear Expert from UT, United States Written on September 10, 2011
I have been using triange for over 25 years backpacking with others that have other cooking systems. Needless to say, I have converted many a backpacker. Trianga is durable, easy to pack and with the exception of having to replace the O-ring in the burner cap, it has been VERY reliable.

Be sure to find a good vendor for the fuel and keep stocked. Methanol is sometimes hard to find in small tow

Trangia stove.

by Chris G., Written on February 10, 2017
Great stove with good flexibility and burn time. It's definitely a good cooking system but I would not bill this as a minimalist camper's stove. If you are looking to minimize ounces and space there are other options, but if you want more flexibility from a cooking system this is great. I've done the ultra light weight route and don't care to do that. This stove is fairly small and let's you actually cook / bake v/s just boiling water to re-hydrate meals. It's still backpack friendly and well thought out.

Awesome classic

Love it. Light, easy and reliable. If I were to identify an improvement it would be that the saucepans are slightly small, but then again, I could have gone for the larger model, I just wanted to have it be lighter

Trangia 27-7 UL/HA VS Trangia Mini 28-T

by Michael H., Written on January 21, 2016
I had the Trangia Mini for backpacking, purchased 27 for bike tour. The 27 is much better, boils faster, more even heating, no flare ups. The Mini is smaller, yes, but when you add a Titanium cup to your kit the space needed is about the same. The 27-7 nests two small pots inside of each other, so one can be used for your coffee cup. The wind shield is better on the 27-7 and boils faster, less fuel needed. The mini you need to make a wind screen and self designed wind screens are fussy and can flare up around the pot. Overall the Mini is fussy, but ok to boil some water. The 27-7 is much better for two people, or even one on a bike trip. Stable, windproof, faster boil, no flare ups, fuel available from every hardware store, gas station, car parts stores, anywhere in the country when you can’t find the canisters for gas stoves. Simple and easy.

I do like this stove!

by Matt M., Written on June 2, 2015
I bought the Trangia based upon reviews and it’s long standing reputation. After having tried several alcohol stoves they always seemed a bit finicky to me. Hassles with carrying and pouring the fuel, flimsy pot support systems, inefficiency in the wind, etc., kept me from full adoption. The Trangia addresses all of these problems. Being able to store 2 oz. of fuel in the stove and the robust wind protection and pot support makes this stove a pleasure to use. You can almost entirely forget about the wind, just set it up wherever and you’re good to go. Fantastic! Now, if it were only lighter.

Trangia: Everything you want in a camp stove.

by Tim H., Written on January 21, 2015
I was introduced to Trangia camping stoves while living in Denmark. A friend of mine had one, and I was really impressed by it. (He had the larger model, but other than size, it was exactly the same.) It packs very small, is super sturdy, wind proof by default, stable on uneven ground, heats quickly, and cleans easily. It's everything I could want in a camp stove.

When I got back to the states, I looked around for one, but most stores don't sell them. The stoves that are offered by most trail/hiking stores in the states are, in my opinion, not very good. They're expensive, overly complicated, prone to wind, unstable/top-heavy, the fuel is expensive, and generally just a pain.

I get the feeling that the Swedes have spent years perfecting the design of the Trangia, because everything just works. I can't imagine every wanting another stove. This one is just fantastic.

works

I bought a Westwind Trangia about ten years ago, and while it worked great in the kitchen, even with a windscreen, if the wind blew, I had troubles out in the field. I have used a Coleman 400A for years, but I am getting older and need to lighten my pack. I spent way too much time trying to build a windscreen with tin cans, flashing, etc. etc. I finally decided the engineers at Trangia probably ha
