Ŕounds out my kit.

Written on Dec 14, 2014

I already have the same kettle that is made of halulite. It has been one of my most used pieces of cooking equipment. However, I didn't like cleaning the halulite kettle after it was used over a camp fire. It was very hard to clean. That is why I bought this one, made of stainless steel. Much easier to clean after being used over a camp fire. Now this one is a little heavier than the halulite kettle, so it will be used mainly for base camp operations. The halulite kettle will still questions used, only as my go to kettle for backpacking, should I decide to take one.

Good Stove

Written on Aug 05, 2014

Bought this stove to have another cooking option when out on the trails. Its always nice to have an option. Read the reviews which for the most part were good, so I figured I'd give it a try.
After having used it several times I found it to be a good stove. It did what it was intended to do, cook food and boil water. Slowly, but it did so. I really have no complaints.
It is easy to set up and easy

A Great buy

I originally purchased the Jetboil Zip for my wife. Do you know how hard it is to get a cup of coffee after a game at PNC Park? My wife often craves a cup of coffee after a game and we are waiting for traffic to clear up a little. So I bout the Zip to make sure she could have a quick cup of coffee after the game. It worked so well that I ended up getting the Flash for myself.
Now it has ended up i

Decent Stove

This is a decent stove. It works well. Can't fry with it, no biggie there. Its main purpose is boiling water for brews and dehydes, so if that's what you'd be doing this stove will work for you. So this stove does what it is intended to do.
I've only used it 5 times thus far. I will use it more, but not as my first choice.
It is lightweight. Everything you need, except for the pot, comes packaged

My Everyday Sack

This is an outstanding day pack. Tough, durable, padded shoulder straps...... just big enough to carry what one needs for the day whether it be in the country or city.
In addition to a spacious main compartment, this pack has 2 zippered front compartments with excellent organizational features. It also has two side stretch mesh pockets for drink bottles or whatever you choose to put in them for qu

Great pot holder.

This is a great pot holder, not so much a windscreen. I've been using them for the Pepsi can alcohol stoves I've been making. A more solid alternative to hardware cloth, and less work too. Not its not as compact or light as hardware cloth, just more solid.
In most all cases you can use this nested in your cookset without taking up allot of room, and it protects a Pepsi can stove well.
I still reco

Of Course It Works

I purchased this to use with a Snow Peak Trek 700ml pot. The Caldera Cone Stove is custom fit to several different sizes for several different pots. My Trek 700 fit well with this unit. The unit itself won't nest inside the pot so you'll be carrying them separate. This will take up extra room in your backpack which is why I listed for short duration hikes only. It will take up room, but it is stil

A Good Buy

I purchased this as a possible replacement to my Westwind pot stand / stove. My problem with the Westwind was that it didn't fit in any of the pots I was using and I wanted it to be that way, everything packed together. Another problem I had with the Westwind was that due to a design flaw it took longer to boil water than I wanted thereby using more fuel. I know that there are modifications to cor

Eellent replacement bottle

I needed a replacement for my old leaky government issue plastic canteen. This ended up not only to be a good replacement, but also better than the original.
This canteen fits just as the original in my government issue canteen cup and canteen holder. It doesn't leak, it doesn't retain tastes or odors, and the best thing about it is the ability to see through it so you always know the water level

Real Good Pots

Written on Apr 03, 2014

If you are looking for a strong durable pot the Stowaway pots would be a good selection. They are made of lightweight stainlees steel to stand the test of time. They do have a locking lid to secure the contents, ie stove, canister, food etc. Now there has been some reports about failing locking mechanisms, but I haven't had any problems with mine as of yet.
There are different sizes made of this p
