I bought this tent to replace a 20 year old "backpacking" tent from my younger days.
I was very pleased with the size, durability and weight on this 2015 model Seedhouse SL 2.

We bought this tent last year from CS and took it out for a few one nighters. It is a bit snug for two people, but weight wise this product is in a class by itself for quality and ultra light weight backpacking. I am 65 and cannot carry the 40# pack that I did years ago. This is a great 3 season tent. It dries out very fast after heavy Dew or a long rainy night. I have plenty of room me and my gear. I use it on extensive bike touring and have never had a bad rainy or windy night that the tent didn't handle with ease. I highly recommend it.

I bought this tent for me and my 8 year old son to use on the trail due to it being advertised as lightweight. When weighed it actually came in under the advertised weight at 2lbs 14oz. I am familiar with this type of tent as I already own a Sierra Designs Lightyear 1 person tent. I like the freestanding aspect of the Seedhouse(a factor not shared with the L/Y). This is a major advantage if you have to relocate the tent after it is erected. You never know what local conditions can develop. I will use this tent for backpacking but it's winter here now. When it arrived I was amazed at how small it was and light. I set it up in the basement in about 2 min. It seems like it will be strong and sturdy. The only downside was the taxes I had to pay at the PO when it arrived but it was still $100 cheaper then anywhere else.

It should be slightly smaller, but not substantially smaller. If water is able to get on top of the footprint it will puddle in between the footprint and the tent floor. Although tent floors are waterproof, if there is any sort of abrasion then the water can leak up into the tent. The footprint is made smaller than the floor to prevent this from...

When a newer model of a tent comes out there can be minor modifications in the weight. Usually weight savings come from lighter material or poles (usually using newer technology to achieve the same strength with less weight).
